Buncheong is a traditional korean style of pottery where white clay slip is applied onto a usually darker clay body. Despite its simple appearance, these buncheong wares by Mr Hong Seongil went through 3 rounds of firing to complete. He creates the beautiful black spots and dark green patches by layering the white clay slip with iron oxide, creating an almost industrial feel to the cups. As buncheong ware are porous, the colour will change with progressive use, which Mr Hong likens to character development of the teaware!
