Considering Laos is right next to Yunnan and grows teas in an area that is continuous with Yunnan, we are sure that we don't hear more about Laotian teas because the country is more difficult to access! This batch is grown in Phongsali, which literally borders Yunnan, the area in China that is indigenous to tea trees mostly used to produce puers. This hongcha is harvested from such a 400 year old tree and grown at an altitude of 1200-1800masl. The region blends continuously with the neighbouring Yunnan, thus this Hongcha has flavours that remind us of Yunnanese Dian Hong black teas! This batch brews surprisingly gentle flavours of scented wood, flowers and raw sugar. Tolerates multiple steeps with kungfu style brewing, no sugar and milk needed to enjoy this cup!
