By Yukiko Saito, Tokyo, Japan.
We like Yukiko's pieces for its understated beauty and functional brewing considerations. As a potter who practices Chinese Tea Ceremony, she creates pieces that are both easy to use, and reflects the calm spirit and clean aesthetics of the sort of Chinese Tea brewing that we admire!
These glazed gaiwan is suited for brewing all teas. Yukiko has chosen to feature peonies in this series of teaware as she likes the antique beauty of peonies. We agree, because we think the rustic peony carvings, together with the gradient blue hues of the cobalt paint, adds an impression of passage of time to these teaware pieces!
