We were very fortunate to chance upon this tea! It is the first mudan style white tea we have found in Darjeeling to be processed in the traditional Fujian method of natural sun-drying, with no additional rolling as is common in the non-silver needle white teas in Darjeeling! The pristine growing conditions in Darjeeling at an altitude of 1000masl, considered the foothills of the Himalayas, combined with the clonal cultivar AV2 which is the current 'darling cultivar' of the himalayas, leds this tea to develop a characteristic Darjeeling flavour in the tail note while developing a Fujian White Tea feel in the initial notes. Harvested on a chilly mid February day, this precious tea is part of a 15kg microbatch. Complex yet delicate, the leaves brew notes of sweet rice and clarified cacao, layered with hints of almonds, with a long lasting purified cane sugar sweetness, embedded in a smooth silky textured liquor. Brings to mind a happy calm spring day!
