When we first started collecting tea ware, we were fascinated by different stoneware clays with different textures and the various shades and depth of glazes. As we brewed and tasted more tea, we naturally gravitated to more porcelain tea ware. Even though most books describe porcelain as a 'neutral' medium for brewing teas, we find that the lighter, less dense kaolin rich clay loses heat more quickly which in turn does not 'over cook' the leaves, and thus brings out more delicate flavours. The glazed nature of most porcelain pots then contain these aromas and flavours in the brew. We find teas brew with porcelain more complex, especially with the more delicate aromas.
We think that Andrzej's little teapots are beautifully formed aesthetically. Because Andrzej brews his own tea, his pieces are sculpted to be functional for tea brewing! We love the little ribs on this little pot!
