Meizi first fell in love with art, then she met tea. Her real joy is in making teaware with forms and textures that are creative and artistic, and developed the functionality of teaware over time as she accumulated tea-brewing experience.
Her artistic perspective is largely drawn from her childhood days playing in her rural hometown of Chia Yi, fiddling with simple home made tools and items found in nature. Thus, many of her forms are simple and ruggedly. This katakuchi is pinched to subtly ease a smoother right hand pour. We love the rough textured surface of this server. Its earthy colour will match easily with most tea ware.
Stoneware body, glazed interiorly and exteriorly.
Fired in a electric and gas hybrid kiln at 1270 degrees celcius.
