This micro series of teapots all carry the same personality - of being worn by the passage of time. Despite the dark metallic sheen of this teapot, it is made of a porcelain clay body. The sheen is achieved by applying an iron rich glaze somewhat unevenly, which somehow gives it a rugged yet elegant character. You can even see the marks left by the seashells on the base of the teapot which were use as foot to prop the teapot up in the kiln! The iron rich glaze however does give the pot some heat- retention ability, so this pot will not be suited to brew green tea unless temperature is controlled very carefully. Its a exquisite pot for kungfu-style brewing. We imagine it will work very well with oolongs and hongchas, but should brew aged whites and dark tea as well.
