This historic oolong dates back to 1850s when the Qingxin 青心 cultivar was first brought to Lugu 鹿谷 in Nantou from Wuyi Mountains in Fujian. Dongding Oolong 冻顶乌龙 can be said the be a precursor of the modern Taiwanese oolongs! The roasted processing of the Dongding Oolong is preserved till this day, even though most of the modern Taiwanese oolongs have evolved to a lighter oxidised form. The caramel biscuit sweetness with fruit highlights continue to delight tea drinkers this day, amateurs and connoisseurs alike. This batch is moderately oxidized and gently roasted, which gives the brew a more delicate character.
