When it comes to raw puer, all our well meaning traditional tea friends tell us we must drink them old, the older, the more mellow, more calming and more soothing. However, we like our puers young, nubile and delicate, refreshing and lively! This lot completely embodies the happy youth of the sort of young puers that we are besotted with! In its loose form, the flavours are more focussed on vibrant sweetness with a lilt of cool breeze, like rock sugar! Though young, this raw puer is of a gentle character, without the harshness that many associate with young raw puers. The tress aren't old in terms in the world of puer plants, at only about 50 years old. But this lot makes up for the age of the trees by its growing conditions at an altitude of 2400m, in Linxang district in Lincang city of Yunnan, harvested from the MengKu big-leaf cultivar. Now slightly aged for a year, the brew has blossomed into a sweet ‘Ching Teng’ soup dessert, with white sugar and cooked longan sweetness! Brew with mineral water to bring out a cotton-like texture. For those unfamiliar with raw puers and more accustomed to the dim sum type ripe puer, this tea will be more similar to what one would expect of a white or very light oolong!
