We first got acquainted with Yukiko's items in a shop exhibiting ceramic pieces from Japan in Taipei! After falling in love with a teacup that is still our current favourite, we seeked to discover more of her pieces! We think her gaiwan pieces tend to have a rounded compact proportion, which gives it a somewhat 'kawaii' form. This particular one is adorned with the grooves, which together with the industrial black glaze with a metallic sheen, gives the gaiwan a muted ageless character!
The glazed nature of the gaiwan suits it to brew all types of teas. Yukiko especially recommends brewing Wuyi Mountains Yancha (Rock Teas) with this series of gaiwans, as she feels the gaiwan brings out Yancha's flavours.
