Taiwanese Potter Yang Hui Ting creates beautiful pieces inspired by textures weathered by the passage of time, such as the discoloured surfaces of old painted wood or metal. The effect is achieved by her careful layering of coloured clay slips. Combined with her daily experiences with tea as she works with her potter-tea master husband Feng Jian Zhou, her beautiful pieces are made functional for the modern tea brewer. Here the two faced tray is a versatile tray with two different surfaces, handy as a teapot base for brewing tea or for tea service with teapot, cup and/or snack. We prefer the rough clay-slip coated face, which provides more friction to grip items on it during movement.
This piece is fired by both a electric kiln and gas kiln in the reduction method.
