Buncheong is a traditional Korean style of pottery where white clay slip is applied onto a usually darker clay body. For this piece, the white clay slip is applied after the before (bisque) firing. This katakuchi has a simple upright shape and crackled texture from the layering of iron oxide glaze under white clay slip. As buncheong ware are porous, the colour will change with progressive use, which Mr Hong likens to character development of the teaware!
