A simple elegant katakuchi with a rough raw textured surface and a simple form. This piece is 'Saggar-fired' where items are placed in a high temperature resistant ceramic box, where the items undergo more extreme reduction reactions as oxygen is more limited in such conditions. Mr Hong places wood ash and sea shells in these 'Saggar' boxes, which results in a 'wood-fired' quality to the items. Matches easily with most teaware because of its simple sleek appearance.
