The rustic appearance of this teapot is achieved by the two step process of soaking the teapot before firing in salt solution, then sprayed with ash laden clay slip. Subsequently, fired in a Korean Mangdaengi kiln at high temperatures to achieve the aged, ship-wrecked character. The wooden handle is gathered from Zelkova trees native to the Orient. This particular stick is from the forests in Mungyeong, where the potter Mr Park resides.
