Jan Pavek always humbly states: he just shapes the clay, the anagama kiln does everything else! Of course we are very aware of Jan's talents, considering he has only been making pottery for about 6 years and mainly self taught! But he is expressing his wonder at how the natural ash fall and flame licks in the anagama kiln produces beautiful glaze and colour patterns which are beyond his control! Each piece will always be slightly different. This dark clay katakuchi brings out a almost stars and galaxy like effect of the ash glaze.
