Taiwanese Potter Yang Hui Ting creates beautiful pieces inspired by textures weathered by the passage of time, such as the discoloured surfaces of old painted wood or metal. The effect is achieved by her careful layering of coloured clay slips.
Ms Yang has a love for using trays in her teaware presentation, which we find an interesting deviation from the aesthetics of the traditional Cha Xi 茶席 (traditional tea ceremony setting). The tea trays are also handy for serving snacks on, and the earthy sombre colour matches easily with most teaware.
