Meizi has a vision to update traditional Gaiwan forms to suit the modern context, while retaining some traditional characteristics. Here she uses a simple sleek conical form to simplify the glamour of the golden glazed gaiwan, and adorned simply with a pretty motif of gingko. She has a soft spot for gingko, which symbolises endurance and resilience in the Japanese cultures. We like the simple elegant glamour of this Gaiwan! The glazed interior allows it to brew all teas neutrally.
