Buncheong is a traditional korean style of pottery where white clay slip is applied onto a usually darker clay body. Despite its simple appearance, these buncheong wares by Mr Hong Seongil went through 3 rounds of firing to complete. He creates the beautiful black spots and dark green patches by layering the white clay slip with iron oxide. The slight tinge of peach-pink on the white-gray stoneware adds a delicate touch to this pretty piece of teaware. As buncheong ware are porous, the colour will change with progressive use, which Mr Hong likens to character development of the teaware!
