The 36 peaks of 武夷山 Wuyi Mountain are famous for their darkly roasted oolongs called 岩茶 yancha (cliff teas). Of which, 大红袍 Da Hong Pao DHP (translates Big Red Robe) is the most classic type! Harvested from within the Wuyi Mountains scenic area between April and May, made from 奇丹 Qidan, the offsprings of the original DHP cultivar, DHPs require multiple firing with resting periods of 20-30 days in between, thus only complete processing almost autumn! Brews notes of rich cinnamon with a lingering caramel sweetness!
