Singaporean potter Abraham Ling has a special interest in Singaporean wild harvested clay, which is not common in organised Singapore! These days, most of his pieces are brought to Ipoh to be fired in the Aqaugama kiln has has built, and it is one of his focus to explore the intricacies of wood kiln firing!
This tiny little hand-pinched cup is one of such, made from light coloured clay harvested from Jalan Bahar region , and brought to Ipoh to be fired! The effect is more rustic with the fly ash glazed obtained from the firing. This rustic little cup has been bathed in tea after firing to remove the clay flavours. The light colour of the clay means the cup's appearance is likely to continue to evolve with use.
