White Industrial Kyusu by Hong Seongil

$270.00Price

Ceramic Artist: Hong Seongil (Boesong, South Korea)

A beautiful example of white Terra Sigillata, which refers to the ultra fine clay slip layered onto the surface over the glaze! Made from iron-rich stoneware clay, glazed first with a dark glaze then layered with ultra fine white slip, so as to achieve the contrasting texture of black-peeking-through-white! However the colours of this teapot will likely evolve with use, and the lover of this pot must also love its developing personality with the tea brewing! This pot is suited for white teas and light oolongs. Brewing darker teas will work too but may change the color of the pot more quickly.

Iron-rich stoneware clay body, layered with black glaze after bisque fire, and then white clay slip before second fire, and last firing to more than 800 degrees celcius.

Glazed exteriorly with black glaze and white clay slip.

Glazed interiorly with black glaze.
