Yukiko Saito loves horses and horse riding! So it is appropriate in the year of the zodiac fire horse that Yukiko has embarked on a series of teaware with an equastrian motif! This simple white gaiwan with a pony atop the lid is her happy representation of her horse-riding memories in the Mongolian grasslands !
As a potter who is also a avid oriental tea brewer and drinker, her works are ergonomically made for tea brewing. The porcelain and white clay body of this gaiwan suits it to brew all types of teas!
Despite the stoneware nature of the pot, the wide-opening loses heat more quickly, thus suits the pot to brew most teas.
White Stoneware and Porcelain mix with transparent glaze, fired in a gas kiln at 1200 degrees celcius.
